Toyota was looking to go places with Javy Baez (see what we did there?) and hired Banner to shoot a series of scripted spots with the ballplayer. While this particular series was not filmed in front of a live studio audience, we built the break room set in an Arizona studio during Spring Training and directed Javy’s comedic performance over the course of a single afternoon.
A magician should never reveal his tricks but we don’t play by the rules so here’s a look at how the sausage was made: our camera shot a majority of the scene through a large hole in the back of a once working fridge. And those post-it’s? Ever so delicately placed on top of one another requiring a surgeon’s precision to peel off one at a time.
Javy’s first commercial experience was in front of our cameras with Toyota. Now look at him! We’ve continued to shoot with Javy and Toyota for three years now. Consider us the Bradley Cooper to his Lady Gaga, but with a much happier ending.
